✍اعتراف خود آنها مبنی بر انسانیّت و برابری و منطق در تفکّر دینی

only eight years prior to his collapse into madness, Nietzsche wrote to his friend Malwida von Meysenbug, complaining of his deteriorating health. He tells her that he hopes for the stroke that, he believes, will put an end to his suffering.

#نیچه هشت سال پیش از اینکه به جنون کشیده شود در نامه‌ای به یکی از دوستانش از وضعیتِ وخیمِ سلامتی‌اش شکایت می‌کرد و حتی می‌گفت تنها امیدش برای پایان یافتنِ رنج‌هایش سکته است! »

For those of us who think of Friedrich Nietzsche as the preeminent atheist philosopher of the nineteenth century – indeed, perhaps the pre-eminent atheist philosopher of all time – such claims should be startling. Self-transformation, purification, equanimity, a right mind: these are among the familiar goals of religion. And, indeed, in the letter Nietzsche himself says as much, even allowing that religion and art are the usual ways people accomplish such goals.

برای کسانی که فردریش نیچه را به‌عنوان فیلسوفِ برجسته ملحدِ قرنِ نوزدهم -و حتی شاید فیلسوفِ برجسته آتئیستِ همه زمانها- می‌شناسند، چنین ادعاهایی شگفت‌آور است: "تحول در خویشتن، تزکیه و تطهیر، انصاف و برابری، ذهن منطقی"! اینها در حقیقت از اهدافِ شناخته‌شده‌ی دین هستند! و حتی خودِ نیچه نیز در نامه‌اش اذعان دارد که "دین و هنر" شیوه‌های معمول برای دستیابی به چنین اهدافی هستند.»
